The livestock of Samuel Flores , Vistahermosa pure breed, has the following origin:

In 1882,  Eduardo Ybarra bought part of the livestock of Joaquín Murube (Tronco Vista Hermosa). These bulls were not said to have much weight or bulky appearance, and as they suffered from scarcity they gave no great falls but they took many lances and recharged; they remained wild and rapid and lasted well to the cape and sword; they were simple and clear so they were liked by both audiences and bullfighters. Joaquín was responsible for many years to carry out this magnificent work and produce this YBARREÑO type of bull.

In 1903, Eduardo Ybarra sold half of the livestock to Fernando Parladé, in whose hands it remained very little time. Only two litters fought under his name. Afterwards, a large part of the livestock was bought by the Gamero Cívico family who divided it in 4:

Ernesto Blanco
Son Manuel Blanco
Rafael Clairak de Salamanca
Samuel Hermanos in Palma del Río 1926.

The part of Samuel Hermanos was the only one to continue in the same family and which therefore conserved Ybarreña purity. It is a:

  1. Bull with a bulky frame, large face, sturdy horns and white on the stock, thick fur, broad temples and curly forehead (mane-like) inspiring considerable respect, an impressive appearance.

  2. At the same time it is short in height, short-legged, long-necked, so it is a pleasure to fight.

  3. Above all, its character: its nobility and its ability to go from less to more.

When Samuel Flores "el viejo" bought the livestock, a stud bull came along with the cows, named 34. It was the following year when he was lucky enough to produce a son from this stud, which he called Naviero.

This characteristic Ybarreña morphology was provided basically by this stud, Naviero, which bred exceptionally well. He also gave this breed's typical characteristic of having the tuft of its tail split. This bull made it possible for the livestock to achieve glory as of the forties and up to the end of the 60s.

A number of bullfighters graduated to "matador" with our bulls. In 1944, Luis Miguel Dominguín did so in A Coruña and in 1963 El Cordobés did so in the city of Cordova, cutting two ears and the tail of the bull Berlinés, fought in sixth place. In 1966, El Viti was consecrated in La Maestranza in Seville with the bull named Peina Feas.

In recent years, this breed has had many successes:

  • The San Isidro bullfight in 1990, awarded the prize for best in the Fair
  • Beneficencia in Madrid in 1991 where Ortega Cano and Cesar Rincón were carried out the main gateo n shoulders, with 3 ears each, along with the breeder.
  • La Beneficencia in 1992 where Enrique Ponce cut the ear from a bull named Molino, and was carried out the main gate and consecrated as a celebrity in the world of bull-fighting.
  • Feria de Madrid in 95 bullfight awarded as best in the Fair
  • Feria de Madrid in 96 where Ponce and Joselito gave a great performance with the cape, giving the bull CUERNOS TORPES 6 “quites” or passes.
  • S. Isidro 98. Javier Vázquez triumphed with PITERITO.
  • S. Isidro 99 Vicente Barrera triumphed with the bull FLANÓN.
  • Dax 99. 11 ears, 1 tail
  • Bilbao. Award for best bullfight of the year and best bull of the year
  • Valencia, Nimes, Arles, Asprona…
  • And the Feria de Albacete 2007. Anticipated return of this livestock after 70 years without fighting at this fair, where the breeder Samuel Flores went out into the ring to kiss the ground after a memorable afternoon.
